Jett’s Wild Flight: Petroglyph National Monument
By: Jett Lillie, 2/20/23
We drove only 20 minutes from our campground to reach Petroglyph National Monument and earned our 72nd Junior Ranger badge!

We watched the park video outside as we froze into icicles (46 degrees). After the video, we quickly rushed into the truck to get warm and eat lunch. We drove to a trailhead and started on a 1 mile hike. We saw birds, cactus, and even a road runner!

We also saw lots of petroglyphs which are ancient carvings on rocks by the Pueblo Indians.

This one was my favorite. It is showing a zigzag snake:

And there was sand everywhere. - definitely in the desert!

We then realized that somehow we ended up on the 3 mile trail! Once we arrived to our truck, we went shopping in Historic Old Town Albuquerque and ate yummy pizza!

Jaycie’s Bunny Hoppin’ News: I love the Mountains!

Even though we’ve only been on the road for 3 days and the car rides have been long, I have enjoyed New Mexico. I liked the Petroglyphs and photography. I got a professional Sony camera for Christmas so I am taking many photos.

Here’s some of my favorite photos that I captured:

The mountains are so pretty!

Here was a small bird I captured:

I also like the Old Town Albuquerque and the Native American arts. I wish I could buy everything!
